After graduation in December, I'm planning on picking up a Canon 70D. I currently have a EF 50mm f1.8 STM and the 18mm-55mm kit lens. I have been contemplating picking up a 24mm to get something a little more wide, while not having to spend a lot. Is this lens a worthwhile purchase for now especially, but down the road?

The 24mm will capture more light and give a shallower depth of field than the kit lens. Just determine if you need those features. FYI, I have an 18mm-250mm sigma but still use my 30mm almost exclusively because of the depth of field and it's also sharper.
Performs pretty good for the price, although for landscape you might want to actually consider something wider. In some cases I feel like 24mm is still to long and something like 14 or 18mm would be best. Especially if you are doing untracked, the wider the easier. 2.
