The Dead Rising series has a lot of weird design decisions and quirkiness going on, and unabashedly so. Time limits, manual saving, crazy hard boss fights out of nowhere, restarting your game whenever just to level up, that's just how Dead Rising does things ;) The one complaint I have never understood, though, is about the weapons breaking.

The wingman will attack and kill any zombies near you. You can have up to 5 wingmen with you at one time. There is a glitch where if you are carrying a shotgun all the time the wingmen will not disappear and can therefore kill unlimited zombies. By saving these survivors, players can earn PP that helps them level up and earn more health, inventory space, improved attributes, and combat abilities. The survivors in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record are exactly the same as the ones found in Dead Rising 2, with some additions.

However, the player also levels up faster. The time limit has been completely removed from the main game, although a few select missions have time limits. Scrap can be collected as currency, replacing the traditional money that was used in Dead Rising 2. A massive "skills" screen where Frank can use points to level up, similar to Dead Rising 3.
